In ancient times, these oils or plant materials were used as medicine, skin cosmetics and perfume. It is written in many accounts that Cleopatra used fragrant oils, clays, milk and honey on her skin and stayed youthful.
This must surely confirm that essential oils are potent in the fight against our ageing skins. Using a serum formulated from the right carrier oil and essential oils will help heal and protect against daily skin scavengers as well as feed and nourish your skin.
Before starting to treat your skin with essential oils, it is important to know that it is equally important what you put into your body and how you cleanse your skin. Drinking enough water per day, eating a lot of fresh produce and doing daily exercises play a huge role in the condition of your skin.
Essential oil blends have been proven to hydrate dry skin, assist clearing up acne, soothe inflammation and smooth out wrinkles to some extent. They are also potent in reducing scarring and stretch marks.
A few tips on how to care for your skin
Wash your face only once a day, at night, and remove all make up. Apply your anti-ageing skin serum as well as your night cream.
Rinse your face in the morning with warm water, then cold water and apply a natural toner.
Moisturise skin twice a day using a natural serum or balm, in the evening after cleansing and in the morning after rinsing and toning.
Do a natural chemical peel two to three times a week to remove all dead skin cells and to make your face radiant.
Take time once a week to do a natural clay mask detox.
Drink plenty of water and nourish your body well with vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, good oils and fish.
